Update #1: One week since launch!

Time flies!

It has been one week since we launched our new Monster Hunter Wiki, and we have been humbled by all the enthusiasm and positive feedback from you guys. Thank you!

Many of you also immediately went to work - in just one week, we have:
  • Recruited over 300 contributors!
  • Completed our first community project!
  • Added Dark Mode!
  • Updated our domain to .org!

Let’s celebrate each of these milestones separately, shall we?

300 people join the hunt (for knowledge)!
Launching our Wiki was not just an announcement, but also a call-to-action: The Monster Hunter series is dense and varied, with troves of information worth cataloging that a group of ~10 people would struggle to comprehensively manage. We hoped that announcing the project would attract like-minded fans and bolster our numbers a tad. But, as you do, you exceeded our expectations, and the public discord now has 306 members! From tech-wizards to loremasters to gameplay gods, our community now boasts a diverse skill set that has already helped in improving the Wiki every day.

First Community Project - Slain!
One way we want to make the building of this Wiki a communal and enjoyable experience is through Community Projects - specific groups of tasks, posed to the entire community as a challenge where people call dibs on a page, edit it to the given standards and then hand it in for review by staff. So for example, this first project asked contributors to transcribe and add the Hunter’s Notes Descriptions for each monster from Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. Staff provided an example page of what it should look like, as well as a google sheet to call dibs on specific monsters and hand in finished pages for review. As we opened up the project to our discord, we figured it would maybe take a day or two - instead, all Sunbreak Monster Descriptions were finished and reviewed in less than two hours! It was an amazing little experience, and we cannot wait to organize more such projects.

No more Flash Bombs, Dark Mode is here!
This was by far the single most requested feature from you upon our launching of the Wiki, the blinding white of our page design reminding many of you of your first Gypceros encounter. So naturally, we hunkered down and got Dark Mode working - simply set your browser to dark mode in your browser settings, and watch the Wiki take on a cool, relaxing shade of dark blue.

We are now monsterhunterwiki.org!
Our original URL (which still works) used an .xyz domain, which some firewalls and mailing services automatically flag as suspicious. To make using the Wiki as seamless as possible and to make our site a little more well put together, we grabbed monsterhunterwiki.org, which where you can now find us!

There still remains much work to be done, from building new pages to fleshing out existing ones, from hitzone values to ecology entries. So, if you are interested in helping, definitely join our public discord server at https://discord.gg/6gjNaW74rm .

Hope to see you there and happy hunting!
